Assistant Planning and Development Manager
Location: Berkshire, Beenham
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading company in their search for a Assistant Planning and Development Manager to join their dynamic Estates team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a diverse range of projects across the waste, minerals, renewable energy, and sustainability sectors, helping to shape the future of the estate while driving long-term commercial success.
The RoleReporting to the Head of Estates, the Assistant Planning and Development Manager will:
- Identify development opportunities and manage early-stage projects.
- Secure planning consents and statutory approvals.
- Lead planning and regulatory submissions, including planning applications and EIAs.
- Manage external consultants and collaborate with internal teams.
- Provide expert planning advice to support informed decision-making.
- Negotiate and oversee legal agreements (e.g. S106, S278, S38).
- Monitor and engage with local development plans to protect and promote company interests.
- Support operational divisions through the discharge of planning conditions.
- Represent the business at liaison groups and contribute to Public Affairs activities.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a planning or development role.
- Degree accredited by the RTPI and/or RICS, with membership or working towards chartership.
- Strong knowledge of planning processes, including EIAs and appeals.
- A genuine interest in waste, recycling, minerals, or sustainability sectors.
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and presentation.
- Commercial awareness and ability to interpret financial models.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office, with knowledge of AutoCAD or other planning tools an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence.
