Job Description

Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their High and Medium Impact (HMI) Supervision division. This full-time position is central to enhancing effective controls, supervisory activities, and processes for high and medium impact firms across regulated sectors, excluding banks and insurers. You will work closely with the Manager and Senior Manager to ensure all deliverables are met while supporting the organisation's engagement model.The primary focus of this role involves risk-based supervision and contributing to the success of the HMI Supervision team by maintaining effective relationships with regulated entities and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include participation in supervisory inspections, risk assessments, and stakeholder engagements, as well as contributing to necessary legislative and policy updates.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Assist with the effective and efficient supervision of a portfolio of high and medium impact firms.
  • Ensure the HMI Supervision team completes all deliverables and achieves its objectives.
  • Support the Enhanced Supervision team and other divisions within the Authority.
  • Deliver the Supervisory Methodology focused on risk-based supervision and compliance with internal systems and procedures.
  • Participate in processes supporting HMI Supervision.
  • Develop and maintain the Authority's systems, procedures, and controls.
  • Assist in preparing risk assessments for regulated entities within the HMI scope.
  • Identify and assess potential risk trends and supervisory themes.
  • Engage with stakeholders internally and externally to facilitate supervisory processes.
  • Participate in supervisory inspections, including preparation for on-site visits and post-inspection follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulated sectors, industry bodies, and government entities to promote sound supervisory practices.
  • Ensure public inquiries and complaints against regulated entities are handled timely and constructively.
  • Produce papers and reports on supervisory matters for periodic review by senior management.
  • Support the Manager and Senior Manager with any relevant regulatory matters and breaches.
  • Contribute to the introduction of new legislation, guidance, policies, and procedures to ensure conformity with international standards.
  • Volunteer for additional projects and tasks to assist the HMI Supervision team as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Holds, or is working towards, a professional qualification relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrates evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Possesses relevant finance sector experience in operational, compliance, assurance, risk, or audit roles.
  • Displays effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits strong analytical skills, a flexible attitude, and the capacity to assimilate complex information quickly.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to prepare for and actively engage in meetings with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.
  • Capable of working on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • A strong working knowledge of risk frameworks and the ability to manage and mitigate risks is desirable.
  • Ability to contribute to broader Authority initiatives.
