The Assistant Farm Manager will be working closely with the Farm Manager and be assisting in the day to day managing of a Pig Breeding Unit, ensuring well being and performance of livestock.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Farm Manager in ensuring the team is engaged and focused through two way communication, understands and works towards the department targets, and builds skills through assessment, training and feedback.
- Take charge of other departments on the farm when required, including on call rota for feed and alarm systems.
- Be responsible for the whole site in the Farm Manager's absence and ensure all stock are managed to the highest level, minimize death rates, proactively identify and treat animal welfare issues, and always adhere to the highest level of Animal Welfare, Red Tractor and environmental standards. Collaborate with the Company Vet on animal health strategies before implementation.
- Ensure accurate and up to date records for all farm activities (cloud farming, movement licences, feed and raw material management, feed system management, stock, animal health traceability, staff clocking, training, etc.) during the manager's absence.
- Work with other business departments as required.
- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, protect the health and safety of all through a safety culture, eliminate or isolate hazards, and ensure adherence to all Company policies and procedures.
- Positive can do attitude and willingness to learn quickly within a changing environment.
- Experience working with growing and finishing pigs.
- Good level of English and maths.
- Basic IT skills.
- Previous experience with computerised liquid feeding and environmental control systems.
- Caring, passionate, driven, enthusiastic, competent individual with excellent eye for detail, interpersonal skills and strong communication.
- Excellent animal welfare and hygiene practice.
- Implementation of strict cleaning and biosecurity protocols.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience managing people (full training will be provided).
- Previous experience dealing with the day to day running of a farm.
- Valid driving licence.
- Salary depending on experience.

- Use of company van when on call.
- On site accommodation would be made available.
