Searcys is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Events Manager to join our team at the IET.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a multidisciplinary professional engineering institution, formed in 2006 from the merger of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (established in 1871) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (established in 1884).
As an Assistant Events Manager, you will support the successful delivery of Food & Beverage Events Operations.
You will primarily be responsible for setting up all events, working afternoons and evenings, so flexibility is required.

The position is mainly Monday to Friday.
Job Type: Full Time / 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities- Deliver successful events across the site
- Coordinate with Senior Managers, Kitchen, and Events Operations teams to plan and execute events
- Ensure events run according to schedule
- Act as an allergy champion
- Build positive relationships and communication channels with key departments
- Brief the Hospitality team and oversee event operations
- Meet clients to ensure their expectations are met and manage on-the-day changes
- Lead supervisors, waiters, and colleagues
- Develop accurate and timely event reports
- Manage staff, stock, and equipment efficiently and cost-effectively
- Support the development of the waiting team and ensure adherence to standards
- Ensure compliance with cash handling procedures and report discrepancies
- Assist in recruitment and staff selection
- Deputise for the Senior Manager when necessary
- Comply with legal requirements, including fire safety, security, and licensing
- Conduct staff meetings
- Ensure proper handovers and issue escalation
- Maintain excellent product knowledge (food and beverage)
- Bring experience in F&B operations
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and problem-solving skills
- Lead by example with professionalism
- Show initiative and good time management
- Support team collaboration
- Provide excellent customer care
