Job Description

We are hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing of our Nursing Home in Co Carlow.
Responsibilities- Support the Person in Charge (PIC) in managing the nursing home's daily operations, staff, and overall organisation.
- Ensure high-quality, person-centred care in a professional and supportive environment.
- Act as the lead in the PIC's absence, carrying out responsibilities under the Health Act 2007 and HIQA standards.
- Provide clinical supervision, leadership, and mentorship to nursing and care teams.
- Maintain compliance with all regulations, best practices, and Sonas policies.
- Oversee safeguarding procedures and ensure all concerns are appropriately reported and managed.
- Manage staffing levels to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care delivery.
- Support staff training and development, promoting continuous learning and improvement.
- Serve as a clinical resource, staying updated on nursing best practices.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and maintain a safe working environment.
- Be available to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required.
- Registered Nurse with An Bord Altranais and an active PIN.
- Minimum of 6 years post-registration experience.
- At least 2 years' experience in a nursing home setting.
- Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
- Post-registration qualification in healthcare management, or willingness to complete.
- Qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.
- Up-to-date certifications in Infection Control, Manual/Resident Handling, Medication Management, Dementia, CPR, and Safeguarding (training can be provided).
