Overview

About the role

HC-One are looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a great understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. You'll be organised, able to meet deadlines, present your food attractively, and have a knack for following recipes precisely. When communicating with Residents or co-workers, you'll be considerate and kind.

In your role as an Assistant Chef at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: Kindness. This carries across our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist Care homes. You'll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to Residents.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Chef, you will:

  • Cook and serve nutritious, healthy meals that Residents will love.
  • Provide outstanding support to the First Chef and take charge in their absence.
  • Manage food stock, optimise budget use, coach a colleague, and supervise kitchen clean-up with Resident wellbeing in mind.
Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in related areas, including seeking appropriate advice and reporting concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

This is a part-time position working 18 hours per week - shifts are 8am-6pm.
