Assembly Support Technician - Aflex, UK - Bradley Business Park (On Site)
Job SummaryWe are seeking a talented and motivated Assembly Support Technician to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct shopfloor support to Assembly Operators during builds.
- Progress and move assembled orders to the next operation including testing stages.
- Update the order tracker system to reflect movement (Layered WIP).
- Own consumable stock for the department, updating the system, ordering and issuing to operators.
- Ensure all required work order components are available to each operator before work starts.
- Locate picked materials, including hose.
- Utilise or create a KANBAN system to replenish work order components on each workstation.
- Manage the order tracking system to update status of the order.
- Assist with set ups, changeovers and line readiness.
- Help maintain smooth workflow to maximise output and minimise downtime.
- Support operators in completing quality checks and documentation.
- Verify components match job requirements prior to assembly.
- Reinforce adherence to manufacturing tolerances and work instructions.
- Escalate quality concerns early to Team Leader/Department Manager.
- Promote and enforce safe working practices.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe behaviours, or equipment faults.
- Monitor production performance and highlight inefficiencies.
- Act as first responder for minor process interruptions.
- Support root cause identification for defects or delays.
- Work closely with operators to maintain maximum output.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
- Support implementation of small improvements such as 5S, layout, tooling.
- Share best practices across shifts and teams.
- Provide basic on the job guidance to new or developing operators.
- Reinforce correct methods, standards, and behaviours.
- Support skills development and cross training initiatives.
- Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Strong understanding of quality standards and measurements (metric & imperial).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Methodical, organised, and proactive approach.
- Basic mechanical awareness (advantageous).
- Understanding of 5S principles.
