Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As an Area Manager, you'll ensure your site runs smoothly to meet customer demand. You will lead a team that helps keep our operations safe, efficient, and of high quality, and you will take on a number of projects across our network to drive productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  • Analyse and implement changes to maintain high quality and productivity.
  • Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity, and increase quality of service for customers within your area of responsibility.
  • Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives, and implement actions to improve operational excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices.
  • Own and drive a culture of safety, uphold quality, and monitor shift performance standards on a day-to-day basis.
  • Oversee process improvements within your area and drive implementation.
  • Mentor and role-model for new managers.
A day in the life

You'll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring it is as productive as possible. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. You'll oversee process improvements within your area and drive implementation. A typical day includes routine team management and daily operational responsibilities, along with process improvement and wide-scale operational contingency tasks.

About the team

Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles last mile delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We use continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of products into customers' hands and aim to make the delivery experience smooth while rolling out global delivery solutions for concepts like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants. Our operations run 24/7 across locations, with both "under the roof" and "on the road" roles.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree
  • Relevant experience in people management
  • Relevant experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Relevant experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
  • Experience working in another logistics environment
  • Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
