Area General Manager - Concrete to take full accountability for the performance, profitability, and safety of our concrete operations within a defined geographic area.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing a team of commercial and operational professionals and collaborating closely with our customer service Centre in Syston. You will play a vital role in ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction while delivering strong commercial results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for the profitability and Health & Safety performance of all concrete plants in your area
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of operational and commercial staff
About You:
- Proven leadership experience in a commercial and operational management role, ideally within the construction or materials industry
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and a track record of promoting a safety-first culture
- Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute market and operational plans
- Excellent communication and people management skills
- Results-oriented, with a focus on performance, service, and efficiency
- Work in close partnership with the customer service team to ensure exceptional service delivery
- Develop, own, and implement the Market Strategy Plan to drive growth and competitiveness in your area
- Champion a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, industry standards, and relevant legislation
- The incumbent in this role will have full responsibility for the profit and health & safety of the Heidelberg Concrete plants located within a defined territory area. Manage and lead a designated team of commercial and operational staff working closely with the customer service team at Syston.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve the highest possible standards in Health & Safety
- Lead and manage the area commercial and operational team
- Develop, own and implement the Market Strategy Plan for the area
- Achieve targets for sales volumes, selling price and PGM
- Ensure market share objectives are achieved through sales volumes / forward order book
- Maintain excellent knowledge of the market and competitor activity
- Manage the customer portfolio and mix
- Manage operating costs ensuring maximum efficiency
- Drive product and service quality excellence
- Achieve Heidelberg Materials UK KPI expectations
- Work closely with the national operations team - utilising the team for support and implementation of national initiatives
- Generate and submit required reporting to the business timetable
