We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Approval Engineer to perform design review and approval of integrated ship systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to take responsibility, influence, and spearhead how the maritime industry will work with Integrated Ship Systems in the future-placing you at the forefront of industry transformation.

The Integrated Ship Systems section has a central role in advancing DNV's assurance work for future-ready, integrated vessel technologies. Our team of 10 highly experienced and technically skilled engineers works on some of the industry's most advanced vessels and offshore units. We cover areas ranging from control and safety systems, cyber security, and future fuel compliance to redundant propulsion and dynamic positioning-all key capabilities driving decarbonization and digitalization in shipping.
As a member of the Integrated Ship Systems Section within Approval Centre Europe, you will collaborate with our customers globally and with experts from various technical disciplines and DNV's regional offices. This gives you the chance to enhance your technical and personal competencies while building a strong network and contributing to cross organizational teamwork.
In this position, you will:- Review and approve control systems for ships and offshore projects, including participation in on site testing
- Support customers globally and collaborate with DNV's global offices
- Influence and contribute to setting the standard for how the maritime industry will work with Integrated Ship Systems
- Contribute to the development of Class rules, guidelines, and services related to dynamic positioning, redundant propulsion, safe return to port for passenger vessels, and data driven verification methods
- Manage assigned projects, identify risks early and communicate potential mitigation strategies to stakeholders internally and externally.
- Drive technical discussions, cross disciplinary collaboration, and contribute to continuous improvements to tools and processes
- Be prepared for some travelling as part of the role

- A Bachelor or Master's degree in cybernetics, automation, and/or computer science
- Other relevant degree in combination with relevant work experience may be considered
- Experience from the maritime, offshore, or energy sectors is preferred; competence in system engineering, instrumentation, electrical systems, or system integration is an advantage
- Experience with automation systems or field instrumentation will be considered an advantage
- Experience with failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) is beneficial
- A self-driven team player eager to solve challenges and create results with a flexible and positive mindset
