What You'll Be Doing

As a Painting & Decorating Apprentice, you'll learn the core skills needed to become a qualified tradesperson while working alongside experienced professionals on site. Your apprenticeship will combine hands-on experience with college learning, helping you develop both practical and technical knowledge.

  • Learning all aspects of painting and decorating across a variety of environments
  • Preparing surfaces ready for painting and decorating work
  • Using a range of tools, materials, and equipment safely and effectively
  • Assisting with painting, wallpapering, and finishing tasks
  • Learning different decorating techniques and industry standards
  • Supporting experienced decorators on live projects and maintenance works
  • Following health & safety procedures and safe working practices at all times
  • Maintaining clean and organised working areas
  • Developing an understanding of colour matching, finishes, and materials
  • Attending college as part of your apprenticeship programme and completing coursework
  • Building confidence working both independently and as part of a team

As part of your apprenticeship, you'll complete a Level 2 Painting & Decorating qualification. This will include approximately 20 weeks at college during your first year and 10 weeks during your second year, alongside practical on-site experience.

You'll be fully supported throughout your apprenticeship with dedicated learning support, experienced mentors, and a team ready to help you succeed every step of the way.
