Gammies Groundcare Forfar (Part of A. M. Phillip) is recruiting for an Apprentice Groundcare Fabrication Engineer

The Role

Thinking about starting a career in Fabrication and have an interest in the Groundcare Industry?

Join us at Gammies Groundcare where you can learn with a hands-on approach while working directly with our current Groundcare Fabrication Engineer with extensive experience.

Start your career with us in our busy depot in Forfar, working within our workshop alongside experienced engineers and parts specialists to assist with the fabrication and assembly of components and systems for a variety of groundcare and agricultural machinery.

You will be working with our department to service, maintain and repair machinery which comes into our workshop, which can include tractors, quad bikes, lawnmowers and more. This will include fault diagnosing, understanding of the engine and mechanical assemblies

Candidates who show commitment and potential will be put forward to work towards a college qualification (Start dates dependent on spaces) on block release.

Areas of responsibility:

Fabrication of components

Assembly of components and systems

Repairing Agricultural, Horticultural & Groundcare Equipment

Servicing a variety of equipment

Carry out above in our workshop

Operation of equipment involved in the above

Awareness of Health & Safety Procedures and following these

Any other duties as required

The Company

We specialise in supplying Horticultural and Agricultural Machinery, Spare Parts, Accessories and Service to fulfil our customer's requirements. Giving advice and making sure you have the right machine for the task you require is our prime aim and should a visit to our premises be required to do this - "No Problem".

All the equipment we supply is fully assembled and on handover to our customer, we advise and instruct on the correct use and maintenance. We are always available post sale to help with any queries you may have.

After-sales support is a major part of our commitment. Our staff are trained by the manufacturers of the equipment we supply. So, when you require service and support from us, you can expect the very best advice and support available.

The Person

The role is depot-based, and we require someone preferably with an interest in repairing Groundcare Machinery

  • Preferred Candidates should be school leavers with a minimum of 2+ Nat 5 in English and Maths preferred, others considered.
  • Have a strong interest and/or experience in repairing mechanical equipment
  • Be able to produce clear, legible handwriting
  • Be a good problem solver
  • Have a willingness to learn and work with others

Successful applicants will enjoy excellent working conditions and be required to attend block release at college.

Salary Range:

£15,000.00 - Rising throughout the apprenticeship, depending on age and progression
