The RoleAs an Applied Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the development of innovative materials and technologies that enhance QinetiQ's cutting edge research and experimentation capabilities. Day to day, you'll work in a hands on laboratory environment delivering prototyping, manufacturing, and testing activities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to produce, evaluate, and refine materials and structures across a range of applied science programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:- Preparation and manufacture of test samples using laboratory production equipment
- Conducting physical testing and evaluation of materials to assess performance and compliance
- Supporting programme delivery through collaboration with task leads and technical teams
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, stock levels and quality assurance of materials
- Producing technical outputs such as data plots for inclusion in reports
- Managing workload and ensuring safe laboratory practices including risk assessments
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency
- Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage workload across multiple tasks and priorities
- Flexible approach to a wide range of laboratory and technical activities
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and work with minimal supervision
- GCSE level qualifications or equivalent
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in a scientific, engineering or technical discipline
- Evidence of continued professional development or willingness to undertake further training
This role is 37 hours per week based onsite at our Farnborough site.
