Location: Kew, TW9

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in Kew, 2 days from home

As an Applications and Database Engineer, you'll join a friendly team working across modern Microsoft technologies, gaining early responsibility while being guided by experienced engineers.

About the Role

You'll help maintain and improve internal business systems used by hundreds of staff, working across SQL Server, MS Power Platform low-code tools, Scripting and day-to-day application support. From operational fixes to small enhancements and automation, the work is varied, practical and important.

Skills - What We're Looking For

You don't need to have held the exact title Applications and Database Engineer to be successful here. If you've worked with SQL Server, T-SQL, Power Automate, Power Apps or Scripting in a support, data or junior engineering role, we'd like to hear from you. Adjacent job titles such as Junior SQL Developer, Junior Database Administrator, Power Platform Support Engineer, Application Support Analyst or Data Technician all map well.

Essential Skills

Conversant with MS SQL Server 2016 or later.

Confident using T-SQL.

Familiarity/knowledge with Power Automate and/or Power Apps. Commercial or personal experience is acceptable.

Some Scripting experience (eg Python, PowerShell, C# or similar).

Clear, collaborative communication.

Good English verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to obtain Security Clearance (must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years and be willing to go through the process).

Desirable Skills, but not essential

Hands-on experience with Power BI.

Exposure to Dynamics 365 configuration.

Awareness of ITIL and safe change practices.

Basic DBA concepts or data quality awareness.

Key Responsibilities

As a Applications and Database Engineer, you will:

Support and maintain business applications used across the organisation.

Write and optimise T-SQL queries, scripts and scheduled tasks.

Build or adjust Power Automate flows and Power Apps.

Assist with data integrity checks, updates and diagnostics.

Deliver fixes and changes with guidance from senior colleagues.

Document work clearly and follow safe-change controls.

Collaborate closely with users, colleagues and teams across IT.

Salary, Hours & Benefits

£35,000-£38,000

• 36 hours per week
