Job Description

Mencap has an exciting opportunity to join our Communications team as an Ambassador and Influencer Officer.

This role is full-time (37.5 hours), fixed-term for nine months initially, and is a hybrid position, combining home-working with being based at our London office.

As an Ambassador and Influencer Officer, you will support communications colleagues across our Media and Social Media teams to engage with ambassadors and high-profile supporters to further broaden Mencap's reach and impact.

You will manage and deepen existing relationships with a roster of ambassadors and high-profile supporters, encouraging their understanding of Mencap's work. When creating content or PR moments, you will handle logistics and activities. Daily tasks include monitoring influencer profiles on social and traditional media, exploring their involvement with other charities, and identifying credible connections to learning disabilities. You will also provide expert advice to internal colleagues on the use of talent and ambassadors across the charity, always seeking ways to amplify their involvement with Mencap.

At Mencap, we value a diverse and inclusive workplace and plan intentionally for our colleagues' success. We welcome applications from everyone-come as you are and join us. Together, we are Mencap!

What we are looking for:

  • Someone personable with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders. Experience in securing support from high-profile individuals for campaigns is desirable.
  • A proactive, 'can-do' attitude, eager to learn, calm under pressure, with excellent organizational skills. You should be confident in identifying and developing new relationships and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of working with talent and influencers, especially in the charity sector, and familiarity with key social media platforms and trends.
  • Previous experience in broadcast media or talent management is advantageous.

This vacancy closes on Wednesday, 30th July, with first interviews via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, 5th August.
