Alternative Provision Tutor - Blackpool (1:1 SEND Tuition)

Pay: £30-£35 per hourLocation: Blackpool (Home Tuition or Community Settings)QTS Essential DBS on the Update Service Required

Are you a compassionate, skilled and flexible educator looking to make a real difference to young people with additional needs? We are seeking experienced Alternative Provision Tutors to deliver 1:1 personalised tuition for children and young people across Blackpool who are currently unable to attend school.

Our learners typically present with:

  • SEMH needs
  • High anxiety
  • SEND requirements
  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

Tuition takes place either in the child's home or in a local community setting such as a library.

About the Role

As an Alternative Provision Tutor, you will provide tailored educational support to re-engage learners with education, build confidence, and help them progress academically and emotionally at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 tuition aligned with each learner's EHCP and academic targets.
  • Create engaging, accessible learning plans for pupils with SEMH, anxiety, or complex SEND needs.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit individual learning styles and emotional needs.
  • Record and report on learner progress, attendance, and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/carers, local authorities, and other professionals.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
  • Provide a calm, patient, and supportive learning environment-whether in the home or a community venue.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service - Essential
  • Experience working with SEND or SEMH learners.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A nurturing, resilient, and learner-centred mindset.
