Job Description
Housing & Litigation Advocate

£500 - £530 per day (Umbrella)

Hybrid working - minimum 2 days per week in office

Are you an experienced advocate with a passion for securing justice through expert litigation? Pertemps, in partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Council, is seeking a skilled Advocate to deliver high-quality representation in courts and tribunals, focusing on housing and regulatory litigation.

  • Own a broad and challenging housing litigation caseload: homelessness, allocations, anti-social behaviour injunctions, closure orders, disrepair, and leasehold issues.
  • Represent the Council in diverse courts including County Court, Magistrates Court, First-Tier and Upper Tribunals, providing authoritative advocacy and legal advice.
  • Conduct prosecutions in Magistrates Court on regulatory matters and provide expert negotiation on litigation risk and tactics.
  • Play a vital role in reducing reliance on external counsel, delivering cost-efficient, high-quality legal services.
  • Mentor junior lawyers, setting performance standards and embedding the Council's values through collaborative leadership.
  • Contribute to complex policy development by advising at cabinet and scrutiny meetings, enhancing the Council's reputation.
About You
  • Qualified barrister, solicitor, or CILEX Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience preferred.
  • Extensive advocacy experience, particularly in county and magistrates courts.
  • Strong knowledge of housing law and regulatory frameworks, with flexibility to expand expertise as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, with proven ability to influence outcomes in high-pressure settings.

Hybrid Working

This role supports Hammersmith & Fulham's hybrid working policy requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office to maintain strong team collaboration and effective leadership.
