What you will do
  • Manage a reduced caseload of complex Children in Care cases, including situations involving care proceedings, placement instability, or complex safeguarding issues.
  • Lead permanence planning such as reunification, long term fostering, Special Guardianship Orders, and adoption planning, always aiming for timely action and reducing delays.
  • Conduct statutory visits, assessments, and reviews in line with the Children Act 1989 and Care Planning Regulations 2010.
  • Provide mentorship, consultation, and practice support to Social Workers and ASYE staff, fostering a culture of reflective and evidence based practice.
Person Specification
  • Qualifications: A degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent) with significant post qualifying experience in statutory children's social care. A practice educator or advanced practice qualification is desirable.
  • Registration & Compliance: Must be registered with Social Work England, and possess a strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Planning Regulations 2010, and statutory guidance related to looked after children. Familiarity with permanence frameworks, fostering and adoption regulations, and corporate parenting responsibilities is essential.
