Advanced Practitioner - Emergency Assessment Unit

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Practitioner who is ready to take on a new and exciting challenge within Acute Medicine.

You will be a key member of the wider Advanced Practice team within the emergency assessment unit, working closely with the Senior Advanced Practitioner, Acute Medical Consultants, and the broader nursing and therapy teams across the emergency assessment unit.

This role will be based in the Emergency assessment unit with clinical time assigned to Medical SDEC.

Main duties of the job

We strongly believe in the role of advanced practice and actively strive to provide an environment that will assist you as an individual to deliver autonomous practice to allow you to continue to develop not only your clinical skills but also across all the four pillars of advance practice. You will be supported in maintaining an active Advanced Practice portfolio and will be allocated non-clinical time to help fulfil these responsibilities.

You will contribute to ongoing development projects within the Emergency Assessment unit and invest in your own continued professional growth, engaging with both in-house initiatives and regional networks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Active participation in EAU team meetings
  • Access to a comprehensive in-house clinical supervision and mentoring package
  • Involvement in, and potential leadership of, departmental research and audit initiatives
  • Delivering teaching sessions both internally and at local or national level
  • Supporting the development of trainee ACPs
  • Active involvement in clinical governance meetings

Person Specification Qualifications & Professional Registration
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC Pin NMC or HPCP
  • Clinical based Masters degree
  • Non Medical Prescribing Certificate
  • ALS certificate
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Substantial experience of which considerable experience is within ED/MSK specialty at a senior level
  • Evidence of extensive expert professional/ clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical training and CPD
  • Demonstrates specialist expertise underpinned by theory acquired through CPD
  • Excellent clinical reasoning / clinical decision making
  • Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners
  • Effective communicator able to communicate complex and sensitive information
  • Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
  • Evidence of involvement in the development of programmes of care, protocols and clinical audit
