Job Description

We havean exciting opportunity for an Advanced Podiatrist in BuckinghamshireHealthcare NHS Trust to join the Podiatry Department at Amersham Hospital. Inthis role, you will be responsible for providing professional and clinicalleadership in the strategic development, planning, and operational delivery ofpodiatry wound care services across both primary and secondary care settings inBuckinghamshire. You will act as a key source of expertise in wound care,managing the holistic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients withcomplex wound care conditions. You will also be responsible for deliveringevidence-based podiatry interventions and clinical advice aimed at reducing theneed for acute interventions, while supporting patients to maintain mobility,independence, and overall wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

As anAdvanced Podiatrist, you will be working collaboratively with the Head ofService, Podiatry Leads, and a wider team of healthcare professionals to helpensure a consistent and high-quality podiatry service is delivered across thecounty. You will be responsible for supporting the development of effectivetreatment planning, including off-loading strategies and preventative riskmanagement for high-risk patients and those requiring specialised wound care.In addition, you will be expected to contribute as a proactive member of thePodiatry Service, supporting service objectives and ensuring all practicesalign with departmental standards as well as organisational and Health and CareProfessions Council (HCPC) policies and professional requirements.

Job responsibilities
  • To independently triage referrals and determine appropriate care pathways,ensuring patients are directed to the most suitable services in a timely mannerwhile coordinating onward referrals when specialist input or additionalinvestigations are required.
  • To undertake comprehensive clinical assessments and apply advancedanalytical skills to interpret complex clinical information, including imagingand pathology reports, in order to formulate accurate diagnoses, prognoses, andtailored management plans.
  • To manage and organise a designated caseload of patients, prioritisingclinical needs effectively while ensuring efficient use of time and resourcesto deliver safe and timely care.
  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and clinicaldocumentation, ensuring all consultations, treatments, and outcomes are clearlyrecorded in line with legal, organisational, and professional standards.
  • To provide education, guidance, and specialist advice to patients,relatives, carers, and healthcare professionals, supporting understanding offoot health management and encouraging engagement in treatment andrehabilitation plans.
  • To contribute to service improvement and professional developmentactivities, including participating in audits, training programmes, andclinical supervision while supporting knowledge sharing and the development ofbest practice within the podiatry service.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Podiatrist.
  • Degree in Podiatry or equivalent.
  • Experience in advanced podiatry practice, including complex wound care.
  • Able to work independently and manage high-risk patients.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and participation in audit/service improvement.
  • Car driver preferred; travel across the county will be required.
