About the Role

As an Adult Service Volunteer, you'll provide valuable support to people accessing Aquarius adult services, helping them on their recovery journey and enabling them to achieve positive outcomes. Working alongside our experienced practitioners, you'll support individuals through one-to-one sessions, group activities, appointments and community events, offering encouragement, practical assistance and a listening ear. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference while gaining valuable experience within health and social care. Full training, ongoing supervision and continued support will be provided throughout your volunteering journey.

Key Duties

• Support practitioners during one-to-one sessions with people accessing our services.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of group sessions and recovery-focused activities.
• Provide practical support to individuals attending appointments where appropriate.
• Help deliver community events and service activities.
• Build positive, supportive relationships with people accessing the service, encouraging their recovery and wellbeing.
• Offer encouragement and practical assistance while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Act as a positive ambassador for Aquarius, promoting our values and services.
• Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers to provide high-quality support.
• Attend training, supervision sessions and volunteer meetings to develop your knowledge and skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and work in line with Aquarius policies and procedures.

About You

• We're looking for compassionate, reliable people who are passionate about supporting others.
• Whether you have lived experience of substance use or gambling, experience supporting a family member, or simply want to give back to your community, we'd love to hear from you.
• Previous experience isn't essential, as we'll provide all the training and support you need.
• You'll also have: A friendly, approachable and non-judgemental attitude.
• A genuine passion for supporting people to achieve positive change.
• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability and a commitment to volunteering consistently.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Good self-awareness and emotional resilience.
• An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
• The confidence to work independently when appropriate and seek support when needed.
• Lived experience of substance use, gambling, or supporting a family member is welcomed but is not essential.
