Job Description
Adult ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor)

Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma informed advocacy support to adult clients with diverse needs within an independent, non judgmental service.
  • Assess the risks and support needs of clients through comprehensive risk assessments and ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Create, implement, coordinate and review support plans in partnership with clients.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance, signposting and making suitable external referrals.
  • Offer impartial advice to clients weighing whether to report experiences to criminal justice agencies and support their choice.
  • Advocate for clients who have reported experiences and who are involved in the criminal justice system, advising them on procedures, processes, rights and responsibilities in accordance with the Victims Code.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and appropriate records, including activity data collection.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • ISVA or sexual violence training.
  • Good standard of education.
  • Social Work qualification.
  • Counselling training.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of issues relating to sexual violence, and their impact on victims.
  • Knowledge and concise experience of adult and child safeguarding protection, procedures and legislation.
  • Experience working with people facing multiple and complex challenges, risk assessment, support planning and emotional distress.
  • Experience of multi agency partnership working to plan support for people.
  • Experience of setting and maintaining clear boundaries in a support capacity.
  • Experience of holding a caseload of clients.
  • Good understanding of data protection and confidential working practices.
  • Understanding and experience of working for a large diverse organisation and its responsibilities.
  • Previous experience working within criminal justice agencies.
  • Experience of working with victims of sexual violence.
  • Experience of working with people in crisis or who have experienced trauma.
  • Experience of offering telephone support such as Samaritans.
  • Understanding of diversity issues.
  • Understanding of SARC services.
Skills
  • Risk, needs and support assessment; ability to implement and review support plans.
  • Ability to prioritise, plan and manage own workload.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self motivation, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team working skills and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Full clean driving licence and ability to travel across Greater Manchester.
  • Ability to utilise clinical and case supervision effectively.
  • Ability to adapt communication and support approaches to meet the needs of clients with diverse needs.
  • Experience delivering training.

Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 per annum (pro rata)
