Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for promoting, delivering, and facilitatingvarious programmes directed by management as part of the School-AgedImmunisation Service

Main duties of the job

Assistin the planning, delivery and evaluation of health promotion/educationand public health school-age immunisation programme.

Promoteand facilitatecollaborative working between team, schools and other educational institutionsand families in the delivery of the immunisation programme.

Ensurethe necessary requirements for storing and transporting immunisations, andthe procedures for collecting and delivering vaccinations to the site.

Assistin identifying home-schooled children and those in Pupil Referral Units.

Maintaindatabases to ensure records are kept up to date and documents areprepared for school visits

Handlecalls and emails from andto parents/carers booking children in for vaccinations within communityclinics.

Adhereto the Standard OperatingProcedure for School Immunisation (SOPs)

Firstpoint of contact for alladministrative tasks

Responsible for maintaining the cold chain, ordering,and arranging transport of vaccinations to site.

Actively andconstructively contribute to team meetings.

Undertakeother duties commensurate with the level of this position

About us

Vaccination UK has been commissioned by NHS England since 2015 to provide school-aged immunisations and outbreak responses for vaccine-preventable diseases in the regions it serves.

We also provide the infant BCG programme for infants under one in North London and a domiciliary Hepatitis B programme for babies born to Hepatitis B-positive mothers in North London and the West Midlands.

By the end of the 2023/24 academic year, Vaccination UK had vaccinated 1.1 million school-aged children and delivered over 10,000 immunisation sessions in schools and community clinics across its service areas.

We are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission and we are known as a progressive, agile provider, continually striving to achieve the safest, most efficient service possible.

The CQC Registered Manager for NHS commissioned services is Lisa Jones, Clinical Director for Vaccination UK Ltd. She is the Governance Lead for these programmes, and her base is Head Office, 5 Portmill Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • GCSE level of education or equivalent with minimum of grade C in both English and Maths
  • Prioritise and manage own workload without supervision.
  • Assertive, team player and critical thinker
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organisational skills
  • Able to Drive
