Job Description
Responsibilities 
- Greet patients and visitors to the surgery.
- Book, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with practice schedules.
- Ensure computerised appointment system is up to date.
- Respond to and redirect all patient and visitor requests appropriately.
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new and temporary patients.
- Set up new patients onto the computer system.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts.
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are neat and tidy.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, document calls and redirect accordingly.
- Undertake administrative tasks as assigned by the Practice Management Team.
- Check emails daily and ensure all electronic messages are actioned.
- Provide general assistance to the practice team, projecting a positive and friendly image.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Use judgment to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but requiring urgent consultation are seen in a logical, non-disruptive manner.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required; divert calls and take messages with accuracy.
- Action repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocol.
- Take action on clinicians' requests for further patient information or contact details; ensure completion of associated paperwork.
- Working in a General Practice setting
