Administrator - Admissions & Discharge and Pre-Operative Assessment

The Pre-Assessment Clinic and Elective Care Admissions Administrator provides essential administrative support to both the Pre-Assessment Clinic and the Elective Care Admissions Ward, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the service and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.
The role involves managing front-line reception duties, coordinating patient appointments, and undertaking a range of administrative tasks to support the department's activities. The post holder will act as a key point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment at all times.
Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, including Consultants, nurses, and administrative colleagues, the Administrator will ensure effective communication, coordination of patient pathways, and prioritisation of workloads to support efficient service delivery. The role plays an important part in assisting the team to provide excellent pre-operative care and a positive patient experience.
The post holder will be required to work across sites and participate in a rotating shift pattern to meet departmental needs. Standard shifts are 07:00-15:00 and 09:00-17:00.
Main duties of the job- Use initiative and work without direct supervision, as well as to use relevant information technology to facilitate the performance of tasks.
- Participate in annual appraisals and performance reviews. Identify personal development needs.
- Attend training and development as required.
- Help provide cover for the other departmental administrators during busy periods, sickness and annual leave and where there is an imbalance of workload.
- To act as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, nurses, therapists and other clerical and professional staff.
- Understand and adhere to all Trust policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Support the Trust in providing the best experience possible for each of our patients.
- To maintain confidentiality in respect of information obtained at all times
- A-levels or equivalent Knowledge or experience
- Medical Terminology
- Administrative Experience - Electronic filing, Basic literacy, must be able to work cross site
- Previous experience in an NHS Institution
- Clear & effective communication Skills. Organisational Skills/ability to learn
- Competent use of IT systems - Excel, word, amd database imput
- Team player, Excellent interpersonal skills
- Service sector work (preferably hospital). Legible handwriting ECDL CERNER Dictate IT eProcurement
- NVQ II Customer Care or equivalent
