We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated Public Dental Service team as an Administrative Assistant / Receptionist. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care by providing efficient and effective administrative support.
Role Overview- The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the department. Duties will include:
- Acting as the first point of contact for patients, dealing with enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Booking, updating, and managing appointments.
- Undertaking general clerical tasks including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Ensuring health records and related information are accurately maintained and up to date across relevant systems.
- SVQ Level II in English, Maths, or Secretarial Studies, or demonstrable equivalent experience in a general office environment.
- Previous administrative experience within the NHS or a similar healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good IT skills, including the use of spreadsheets and ideally databases (training will be provided on specific systems and procedures).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
Ability and willingness to travel across the service delivery area as required.
Desirable AttributesExperience working within a dental or clinical environment.
Knowledge of NHS systems and procedures.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
