At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a band 2 Administration Support Assistant to be based at our Royal Stoke site at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinic Administration teams to ensure outpatient clinics are fully utilised and patients are allocated an outpatient appointment within NHS national targets. They may also assist with any incoming calls to the Appointments Call Centre.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills, and communicate tactfully with patients, reception staff about appointments or other queries.
  • Deal with enquiries where there may be barriers to understanding.
  • Handle all appointment queries, communicating to patients, relatives (with consent) and internal and external bodies.
  • Manage general internal calls, external patient calls and calls from other healthcare professionals.
  • Work closely with the Outpatient department to develop knowledge of specialties, ensuring a good patient experience and effective communication.
  • Communicate with system administrators daily, updating them on slot issues, patient queries, and provide feedback on daily work.
  • Ensure that all available capacity is fully utilised.
  • Take instruction from the Clinic administrator to deliver an effective and efficient booking service.
  • Organise own workload, coordinate and adjust ongoing clinic appointments.

  • Adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • GCSE C's or above in English and Maths.
Knowledge
  • Varied knowledge of ICT skills.
Experience
  • Previous NHS Experience.
