Administration Assistant

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Phlebotomy Administration Assistant, based at Leighton Hospital.

The post holder is required to provide a comprehensive and effective reception service for patients and visitors to the department, and phone line cover for Phlebotomy appointments.

The post holder will be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff and carers and this will require tact and diplomacy. The post holder will handle telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality.

The post holder will also be required to undertake some clerical duties as directed by the Phlebotomy Management team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to provide a comprehensive and effective reception service for patients and visitors to the department.

The post holder's will deal with telephone calls for the phlebotomy appointment line.

A large proportion of this role will be computer and telephone-based working.

It is a requirement of the post holder that information is communicated in a consistent manner in line with Trust legislation, policies and procedures.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to effective communication and working relationships within the administrative team, the directorate, the division and the Trust.

Person Specification Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent.
  • NVQ/QFC Level 2/Apprenticeship in related subject.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
  • Knowledge of administrative systems, clerical/office procedures, data input procedures.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Previous reception duties in a healthcare setting.
