We are seeking an experienced ADAS Engineer to join our Automotive Client's team on an initial 12-month contract, with the opportunity for extension. The role is predominantly based at the client's site, with an expectation of 3-4 days onsite per week. The position will also require support for vehicle build phases and occasional testing activities at external proving grounds, including Millbrook, MIRA, and international locations such as Germany and Idiada.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and delivery of advanced ADAS safety systems within an OEM environment, contributing to both current vehicle programmes and future technology roadmaps.
Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of Front Camera and Radar Fusion ADAS systems, delivering features such as Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), and Automated Emergency Braking (AEB).
- Define ADAS features, attributes, system architectures, and validation requirements from early concept through to production delivery.
- Develop and maintain system specifications, validation strategies, and test specifications in line with the client's development process (MDP).
- Own and deliver DFMEA, functional safety activities, and system documentation to agreed gateway timing, cost, and quality targets.
- Manage Bills of Materials (BoM) and support vehicle electrical architecture definition for assigned systems.
- Plan and support vehicle-level verification and validation activities, including on-road and proving ground testing.
- Contribute to ADAS product roadmaps and technology demonstrators, shaping the future deployment of ADAS technologies.
- Work across multiple systems and vehicle programmes simultaneously, coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
- Support issue resolution through structured fault-finding and root cause analysis.
- Higher degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in ADAS system design and development within an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the full engineering V-lifecycle.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Proven experience in ADAS feature system design and delivery, including camera- and radar-based systems.
- Strong systems engineering capability, including system specification, validation planning, and vehicle integration.
- Experience producing technical documentation such as system specifications, DFMEA, DVPs, timing plans, and formal meeting records.
- Understanding of vehicle-level hardware and software integration.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
- Structured, methodical approach to fault finding and problem resolution.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload across multiple projects.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams.
- Experience with ADAS sensor fusion systems, including mono and stereo camera configurations.
- Exposure to radar system development and functional safety processes in line with ISO 26262.
- Experience in ADAS sensor calibration and tuning.
- Familiarity with Vector automotive tools or equivalent (CANoe, CANape, CANalyzer).
- Experience contributing to ADAS technology demonstrators or forward-looking product roadmaps.
- Experience delivering ADAS systems within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Experience supporting vehicle builds and vehicle-level testing at proving grounds or test facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver systems through gated development processes to time, cost, and quality targets.
- Experience working across multiple vehicle programmes and managing competing engineering priorities.
