There is an exciting opportunity available for an Activity Worker to join our multi disciplinary team on Sandringham ward at the Julian Hospital. Supporting people through their mental health journey.
We pride ourselves on working together and supporting each other to provide the best care possible for those using our service. Sandringham ward is a 16 bed male mental health admission ward. We work with older adults who require admission and treatment to hospital for different mental health conditions not related to dementia.
In post, you will be supported by a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, Band 4 Technical Instructor and the rest of the nursing team.

The development of activity worker roles is an example of this and is seen as a way to support activity and engagement for those people admitted to hospital.
You will be responsible for facilitating, overseeing and planning a range of person centred activities for our patients. This will be both 1:1 and group activities.The ideal person will need to work as part of the wider team but also autonomously in the delivery of these activities.

Job responsibilitiesWe are looking for someone with an interest and background in mental health care to work with existing staff to help drive our standards upwards. Whilst the primary focus is on those who have experience of working in inpatient mental health environments, we would also welcome applications from those who may have less experience in this specific field but feel that their existing knowledge and skills can bring something special to our staff teams.We value life skills, lived experience and a commitment to work with us to meet the needs of the ward. We are keen to integrate individuals existing skills into the services we are able to provide, as well as supporting personal and professional development through additional training.If you are someone with a creative streak who relishes a challenge, works well under pressure and likes to be part of a great team then we would welcome your application.
Person Specification Qualifications- To hold or work towards NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
- Previous work experience in health/social care setting
- Ability to teach practical skills to clients.
- Ability to interpret and apply health and social care, organisational and occupational policy.
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
