Activities Facilitator - £3K IncentiveThe closing date is 09 October 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our inpatient mental health ward to recruit an Activity Facilitator within Rowanwood female acute services at Carleton Clinic Carlisle. The ward aims to provide comprehensive and holistic assessment and treatment for those with mental health problems in a safe and therapeutic environment.
This post is an excellent opportunity for staff who are interested in facilitating the delivery of therapeutic activity within an inpatient environment alongside a strong Multi-Disciplinary Team.
This vacancy includes an Attraction Incentive of £3000.
This will be paid on the following basis:
- £1,500 on appointment to be included in the employee's first salary
- £750 on the first anniversary of appointment
- £750 on the second anniversary of appointment
This will include a repayment clause if staff leave within 3 years (Appendix 1).
Should this post be filled by a CNTW employee not currently working into inpatients services, the £3K Incentive payment may be applicable. This can be discussed in detail at interview.
Main duties of the jobYou would be supporting patients in identifying and carrying out individualised activity as well as helping provide ward based activity. You would also be expected to take an active role in the implementation of Talk 1st and the Safe Ward interventions. The post holder would work closely with the occupational therapy team and as part of the wider ward team.

You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care and be a good role model in reflecting the Trusts core Values. You will be provided with training opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills.
The post holder's focus will be to work towards creating an activity-based culture on the Inpatient ward environment. They will both provide and co-ordinate a range of social, recreational and leisure activities within the ward.
The post holder will also undertake designated tasks from both nursing and Occupational Therapy treatment plans for identified individuals.
The Post holder will receive regular supervision from an identified supervisor within the ward team.
To plan, implement, evaluate and record a range of social, recreational and leisure activities within the ward.

Person Specification Qualifications- Formal qualifications e.g. NVQ Level III or willing to work towards, or equivalent level of knowledge
- Planning and organisational skills, excellent communication skills
- Recent or current experience of working in a mental health setting
- Experience that can demonstrate leadership skills and ability to self-motivate
- Experience that can demonstrate skills acquired in a care setting
- Knowledge of a range of leisure/creative technical activities
