This specialist school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Active Citizenship Instructor to support students with additional learning needs in a highly supportive environment.
As an Active Citizenship Instructor, you will deliver engaging sessions that focus on life skills, personal development and preparing students for life beyond school. You will work with small groups of pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them develop independence, social skills and an understanding of the wider community. This may include supporting students with travel training, community-based learning and practical life skills.
You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure students are fully supported and able to access meaningful and enriching experiences. This is a rewarding role suited to someone who is proactive, patient and passionate about helping young people achieve their potential. This role requires previous experience delivering the Active Citizenship curriculum.
- Deliver Active Citizenship and life skills sessions to students with additional learning needs
- Supporting pupils to develop independence and confidence
- Leading small group and 1-2-1 activities
- Supporting community-based learning and off site activities
- Assisting with travel training and real life skill development
- Promoting social skills, communication and personal development
- Working closely with teachers and support staff
