As an Acoustic Stealth Scientist, you will play a key role in advancing cutting edge acoustic stealth technologies, helping to shape innovative materials that enhance performance in complex environments and deliver critical capability to defence and security applications.
Day to day, you'll work across a range of research and development projects, applying your expertise in acoustic physics and metamaterials to design, model and characterise advanced materials. You'll lead and support technical activities including data analysis, simulation and experimental trials, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality solutions. Alongside this, you'll contribute to project delivery through technical leadership, reporting and customer engagement, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, on time and within budget.
Your responsibilities will include:- Deliver technical expertise in acoustic physics and metamaterials to support modelling and design of acoustic stealth materials
- Lead and contribute to modelling, data analysis and materials characterisation activities across multiple projects
- Support project delivery by working with project managers to ensure outputs are delivered on time and within budget
- Design and conduct acoustic experiments and trials, including setup and use of specialised equipment
- Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams and engage with customers to communicate findings and requirements
- Demonstrable expertise in acoustic physics and/or mechanical or acoustic metamaterials
- Experience in analytical modelling and simulation using tools such as MATLAB or similar
- Knowledge and experience of finite element modelling tools such as COMSOL
- Proven ability to lead technical tasks and deliver work to time, cost and quality requirements
- Strong analytical, communication and collaborative skills with experience working in multidisciplinary teams
- Degree or PhD in Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related discipline with relevant industry or laboratory experience
This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough, minimum onsite working requirement is 3 days per week.
