Job Description

We are proud to be supporting a highly respected independent accountancy firm in their search for an Accounts Semi Senior as part of continued growth within the team.

This is a 4 day working week role, working Monday to Thursday, offering a strong work life balance alongside professional development. The salary range is £30,000 to £38,000 depending on experience.

As Accounts Semi Senior, you will work in a 360 general practice role, supporting a diverse client portfolio across accounts preparation, bookkeeping and tax work. Approximately 20% of the role will focus on tax compliance, including personal tax returns and company tax returns for limited companies.

Key Responsibilities Accounts and Technical Delivery
  • Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Assist with preparation of management accounts and financial reporting
  • Complete bookkeeping for a varied client portfolio
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and related submissions
  • Assist with personal tax returns and company tax returns including CT600 filings
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and in line with relevant accounting standards
Client Management
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
  • Support client relationships through clear and professional communication
  • Provide updates and assistance across routine accounting matters
  • Deliver a high standard of client service across all assignments
Team Management
  • Work closely with senior accountants and managers to deliver client work
  • Take responsibility for allocated sections of assignments
  • Support junior team members where required
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment
Portfolio and Delivery Support
  • Manage workload across a varied general practice portfolio
  • Ensure deadlines are met across accounts, bookkeeping and tax work
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy across all tasks
  • Support continuous improvement in delivery and efficiency
Business Development and Exposure
  • Gain exposure to a wide range of client types and industries
  • Develop technical knowledge across accounts, bookkeeping and tax
  • Build confidence in client communication and advisory support
  • Progress towards increased responsibility within the practice
Requirements Skills and Experience Required
  • Experience in general practice accounting
  • Part qualified or studying ACA or ACCA, or qualified by experience
  • Strong understanding of accounts preparation and bookkeeping
  • Experience with personal tax returns and company tax returns would be beneficial
  • Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Proactive attitude with a desire to learn and progress
