Location: Preferred in Glasgow. Occasional UK project travel.
OverviewSUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD. is seeking an accounting manager to oversee the company's financial and closing of books operations. The accounting manager will be responsible for leading the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with both UK GAAP/IFRS, and for managing day to day accounting operations, tax compliance, and providing financial analysis to support strategic decision making. The role will coordinate and manage the company's regulatory reporting process, and be responsible for budget planning and supporting the executive management team in making the best possible business decisions for our business.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting
- Oversee the month end, quarter end, and year end closing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Review monthly financial and management reporting.
- Monitor the day to day financial operations within the company, such as invoicing, payment, and other transactions.
- Main books and records.
Statutory Compliance
- Manage local statutory accounting and tax filings (Corporate Income Tax, Consumption Tax).
- Adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff.
Audit Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Monitor internal financial control.
Process Improvement
- Streamline accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and implement system improvements.
- Maintain a control environment (monthly balance sheet reconciliations, P&L reviews).
- Develop risk minimising strategies.
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
Collaboration
- Coordinate with regional/global FP&A, Treasury, and Legal teams regarding transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and reporting.
- Work with other departments within the company to prepare budgets and carry out other related tasks.
- Develop long term business plans based on financial reports.
- Provide advice on future business decisions.
- 5+ years experience in a similar role.
- You will be a CA/CPA qualified accountant.
- Experience in planning and management reporting.
- Sound technical and practical knowledge of accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Qualified Accountant.
- Professional Accounting qualification (CPA or CA).
- MSDD365 FO experience.
- Work experience in a Japanese company.
