Accountant

We are looking for a Practice Accountant to join our team.

This is a varied role with exposure to all aspects of general practice, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of their work.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
• Preparation and submission of Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns
• VAT return preparation and compliance
• Bookkeeping and management accounts preparation
• Liaising directly with clients to provide advice and resolve queries
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
• Dealing with HMRC correspondence

About You

• AAT qualified, or ACA / ACCA part-qualified or qualified (or qualified by experience)
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Good working knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and tax compliance
• Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses
• Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
• Familiarity with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
• Able to manage workload and meet deadlines independently

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience with payroll processing
• Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
• Experience using software such as IRIS, TaxCalc, or similar
