JOB TITLE: Account & Applications Manager - Industrial Wastewater Treatment
REPORTS TO: VP of European Expansion
STATUS: Full time, non-exempt
LOCATION: Home-based in the Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland (regular travel required)
TRAVEL: 50%
SALARY RANGE: £75,000 per annum
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION: Commission programme based on gross-margin performance, including retained-account growth and new business

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced industrial wastewater treatment professional who combines hands on technical expertise with strong customer relationship skills.
This is not a traditional sales only or management position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly with wastewater treatment plants-diagnosing treatment challenges, analysing performance, conducting testing and trials, optimising chemical programmes and troubleshooting treatment and dosing equipment.
You will take primary responsibility for customer satisfaction, account retention and continuous improvement across an assigned UK territory. The role combines account service, wastewater applications support, process troubleshooting, operator training and commercial account development.

Essential Job Functions (Account Service, Applications & Sales):
- Own day-to-day relationships with assigned customer accounts and serve as the primary contact for treatment performance, service requirements and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular on site and virtual account-service reviews.
- Work directly with plant operators, engineering, environmental, procurement and site leadership.
- Assess wastewater treatment systems, operating data and discharge performance to identify root causes of poor treatment and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct or supervise jar testing, sampling, chemical trials, dose optimisation and treatment-performance reviews.
- Optimise coagulation, flocculation, clarification and solids separation programmes, including DAF or comparable treatment processes.
- Troubleshoot treatment, dosing and application problems and provide practical technical recommendations.
- Inspect chemical storage, make down, feed, pumping, controls and application equipment and provide first line troubleshooting.
- Train customers on Cesco products, chemical handling, dosing, routine monitoring and operational troubleshooting.
- Develop service plans, monitor treatment performance and proactively identify risks that could affect compliance or operations.
- Prepare clear service and trial reports outlining findings, recommendations and operational or financial value.
- Protect and grow customer accounts through technically credible service and strong relationships.
- Identify appropriate opportunities for additional treatment programmes, equipment, chemistry and services.
- Support new business through site surveys, water testing, trials, technical discovery and proposals.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, account plans, forecasts, opportunities and service activity.
- Collaborate with Cesco and Tidal Vision laboratory, operations, technical, equipment and commercial teams.
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned UK territory, typically around 50% of working time, including overnight stays when required.
- 10+ years of industrial wastewater treatment experience, including substantial hands on responsibility for customer applications, process diagnosis and treatment optimisation.
- Practical technical knowledge of wastewater treatment plants, ideally involving high-organics wastewater from food and beverage processing or a related industrial sector.
- Experience managing customer accounts or providing ongoing field technical service within water treatment, process chemicals or a related industry.
- Hands on experience with coagulation, flocculation, clarification and solids separation, including DAF or comparable primary treatment processes.
- Experience conducting or supervising jar tests, chemical trials, sampling, dose optimisation and treatment performance reviews.
- Experience working with chemical storage, dosing pumps, controls and application equipment, including first line troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret operational and laboratory data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Strong customer relationship skills with experience maintaining account satisfaction and identifying appropriate opportunities for growth.
- Working knowledge of UK trade effluent consents, discharge compliance, COSHH and safe chemical handling, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to travel regularly, including overnight stays.
- Experience in industrial water treatment chemicals, wastewater applications and/or technical account management.
- Direct experience supporting food, beverage, seafood, meat, poultry, dairy, brewing, distilling, rendering or other high COD wastewater operations.
- Experience with chitosan, biopolymers, metal salt coagulants, organic coagulants, polymers or related treatment chemistries.
- Experience retaining and growing technically complex customer accounts.
- Experience introducing new chemistry or treatment approaches into operating industrial facilities through structured trials.
- Bachelor's degree, HNC, HND or equivalent professional experience in chemistry, biology, environmental science, chemical engineering, water treatment or a related discipline.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Travel is expected to account for approximately 50% of working time and may increase during trials, start ups or periods of intensive customer support.
- The role involves working in operational industrial environments, walking around treatment plants, using stairs and access platforms and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly use hands and fingers to handle testing equipment, tools, controls and samples and may occasionally be required to lift or move equipment or materials of a reasonable weight.
