Overview of roleThe Access to Care Manager will be part of an integrated team across our UPMC healthcare services in Ireland that will simplify Access to Care for our patients. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with agility, diplomacy and diligence to ensure the success of value creation and performance optimisation within UPMC in the furtherance of our mission of bringing life changing medicine to all the patients and communities for whom we have the privileged to serve. We are looking for a candidate with healthcare experience who is hands on and comfortable dealing with multiple systems and reports, be confident dealing with all levels of management and be proactive in seeking and implementing process improvements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- In conjunction with the Director of Access and Access to Care Managers, will work to create an integrated Access to Care team across our Healthcare Services, promoting good teamwork and excellent patient experience.
- In consultation with the Director of Access and the Hospital GM's, will assess and implement process improvement measures for the Access to Care team.
- Display positive attitude and discuss decisions or policies in a positive, problem-solving way.
- Manage, develop and identify opportunities for team members through Engagement and Competency appraisal, mentoring and feedback, based on clear objectives for each team member.
- Promote a culture of personal responsibility where team members are supported to deliver and held accountable for performance.
- Manage the Inpatient Scheduling teams, located in Waterford and Kilkenny, for UPMC hospitals in Ireland.
- Manage the medical secretary group, located in Waterford.
- Work with the Inpatient Scheduling team leaders to motivate the inpatient scheduling team to ensure the team's services are delivered in a manner responsive to changing demands.
- Review of current inpatient scheduling SOP's and processes, identifying opportunities for standardisation and alignment.
- Work collaboratively with hospital DON's/ADON's to ensure smooth and effective delivery of inpatient scheduling, allowing business leaders to proactively address service needs for each hospital.
- Ensure that agreed pathways are in place to support all access points, from patient admission, discharge and claims management.
- Identify metrics and implement reporting of key performance indexes for the access functions under your remit.
- Work with team leaders to develop a culture of "Get it right - first time."
- Collaborate with the Access to Care managers to provide an improved patient experience and improved patient communication process.
- Support, as required, the Access to Care and Hospital teams in all other activities and adhoc projects which are linked to patient access in its totality.
- 12 months experience in a similar role or healthcare setting.
- Relevant business qualification (Degree or equivalent).
- At least 12 months previous people management experience required.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience of healthcare systems including iPims desirable.
Salary: €55,000 - €65,000 per annum based on a 39 hour week
