Job Description

About the role:

Colchester United Football Club are seeking a full-time Academy Physiotherapist to work within our exciting Category 2 Academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate all injuries sustained by U18 players & where applicable schoolboy Academy players.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive medical records to assist with club injury audits and Youth Development rule compliance.
  • Keep daily records of treatments and record injuries on the Kitman labs along with detailed rehabilitation programmes for injured players.
  • Ensure all cardiac screens are completed within the Youth Development rule timeframes.
  • To work in conjunction with the Senior Academy Physiotherapist for provision of all physiotherapy duties associated with the Academy, U9-U16 teams.
  • Support coordination of part-time therapist cover for youth tournaments, friendlies, weekend matches and academy tours.
  • To work alongside the Sport Science team to deliver effective recovery and injury prevention strategies across all age groups.
  • Ensure all protocols and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) are updated and strictly followed to ensure a safe and efficient process when faced with any possible medical scenario.
  • To support pre-signing medical assessments of all Academy players as required.
  • To assist the club medical department in ensuring all medical emergency equipment and medication is well stocked and up to date.
  • Support the monitoring and management of medical consumable stock and distribution of 'run-on' bags to part-time physiotherapy staff.
  • Undertake continued professional development organised by the club.
  • Always have accountability and responsibility for safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • The Academy Physiotherapist shall be a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Have recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment
  • Hold a current FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (or an equivalent or higher qualification approved by the Board)

Salary: £30k per annum
