We have an exciting new opportunity for an Academic Liaison Librarian to join our Learning, Teaching, and Innovation Department.
The Academic Liaison Librarian will work with the Library Team to support the college's teaching and learning activities. This role involves identifying, promoting, and providing support for learning resources in collaboration with teaching staff in a variety of curriculum areas, offering study skills support across the college, and helping to manage the library service across our various sites.
This role may require working one evening weekly (up until 8 pm).
This is a part-time role working 18.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Identify, acquire, evaluate and manage relevant print and electronic resources in liaison with staff and students within designated schools/curriculum areas.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of user education programmes from initial induction to detailed study and research skills, including the ethical academic use of AI.
- Contribute to the Library's physical and virtual enquiry support service and offer specialist 1 2 1 support to the students and staff within the designated school/curriculum areas. Alongside this work, offer workshops and drop ins as required.
- Produce publicity and learning materials relevant to the designated school/curriculum areas and learning resources generally in a variety of formats, including updating the Library website.
- Liaise effectively with teaching staff in the designated school/curriculum areas to understand their information needs and develop appropriate services to meet these needs. Represent the library at course or departmental meetings in the designated school/curriculum areas.
- Manage a delegated budget for the designated school/curriculum areas for collection management and development. In addition, alongside colleagues, contribute to the decision making regarding cross disciplinary material library budgets.
- Catalogue and classify library resources in a way that is accurate, consistent, systematic, and helpful to users.
- Undertake stocktaking and weeding of the collections to maintain an appropriate range of up to date library stock reflecting the needs of current and future programmes within the designated school/curriculum areas and wider library initiatives.
- Manage student behaviour, ensuring that the library environment is welcoming and professional and that all users have a positive experience.
- Contribute to the Library Services policies and planning, including Performance Review Reports, Quality Improvement Plans, KPIs and Business Planning processes.
- Assist the Library Team Leader in the monitoring, evaluation and maintenance of the efficiency of the services provided, producing statistical information and reports as required.

Education & Training- Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CILIP) approved professional library qualification, or working towards.
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- GCSE 4-9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale.

- Experience working within a library, learning resources or information service.
- Experience in using a library management system.
- Working knowledge of cataloguing and classification.
- Experience working in a learner centred environment.
