City St George's is seeking an outstanding Clinician-Educator to take on the role of Academic Lead for the penultimate year of the MBBS programme.
This is a key academic leadership role within the clinical practice phase of the curriculum, providing overall leadership and coordination of the penultimate year. The role has been developed to ensure high-quality delivery of teaching, strong educational governance, and a consistent and supportive student experience aligned with GMC Outcomes for Graduates.
You will work closely with the MBBS Senior Leadership Team, Quality Team, attachment leads, and administrative colleagues to ensure effective coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of the P-year curriculum. The role also includes oversight of student support processes, professionalism, and engagement with assessment and progression structures.
Responsibilities- Provide academic leadership of the penultimate year of MBBS programme, ensuring high-quality delivery across all specialties
- Chair the Penultimate year committee and relevant governance meetings, including exceptional circumstances processes
- Oversee coordination and quality assurance of teaching across Medicine, Surgery, and associated specialties
- Support and manage students in difficulty, working closely with the professionalism team and Programme Director
- Engage with student representatives and maintain oversight of student experience and feedback
- Contribute to assessment processes, including attendance at examination boards and progression-related meetings
- Consider mitigating circumstances applications and support student progression processes
- Work collaboratively with attachment leads, exam teams, and administrative colleagues to ensure effective programme delivery
- Contribute to quality improvement, annual programme evaluation, and national reporting requirements
- Attend or provide input to relevant programme committees, including Course Committee
