Job Description
We are looking for an Abstraction Engineer to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.This is a unique and exciting role. You will scope and help to deliver projects in the West London Abstraction area. You will make use of your own technical knowledge and work with key stakeholders to do this.The projects will contribute to high level business objectives, namely compliance with the Reservoir Act and healthy raw water storage.You will have a real opportunity to shape and influence the future of our operation!You will be based at Staines (PS) - TW18 4HA.What you will be doing as an Abstraction Engineer
- As an Abstraction Engineer, you'll play a key role in protecting and improving our assets.
- You'll identify and escalate short- and long-term risks to asset performance and resilience, ensuring they are reflected on our area heatmap.
- You'll scope projects in collaboration with colleagues and produce formal briefs for our Capital Maintenance Projects team, as well as influence longer-term asset plans using condition data and technical justification for Capital Delivery.
- You'll oversee enabling activities for capital projects, including asset availability, operational strategies, and health and safety documentation.
- You'll also ensure compliance with Reservoir Safety regulations and our internal standards, working closely with Supervising Engineers and attending interim and annual inspections.
- Throughout, you'll prioritise safety and water quality, contribute to effective maintenance planning, and seek opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation through the use of new technology and data.
- Bring strong leadership with a clear focus on safety and water quality.
- An understanding of regulatory environments, and how it affects operations - Reservoir Safety is key.
- Organisation, prioritisation and a proven ability to work at pace.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and teamwork.
- Previous experience from a utility, or other process industry would be beneficial.
- A technical or engineering background would be beneficial however, not essential.
- Offering a salary up to £57,000 depending on previous experience.
