An opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Officer within the Procurement Department of NHS Dumfries and Galloway Health Board. The role will be primarily office based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries. From 1 April the post will be 36 hours per week over 5 days (not including lunch breaks).
This role is responsible for supporting the procurement and supply of goods and services to NHS Dumfries and Galloway, meeting the fundamental principles of procurement: the right quality, right quantity, right price, to the right place at the right time. You will be a central point of contact to provide advice and support for procurement activities within the board and ensure orders are compliant with relevant regulations and legislation. The vacancy may recruit a Trainee into the role; the post may be a Band 3 until qualification to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 in Procurement, thereafter it will be a Band 4.
Responsibilities- Provide procurement and supply support for goods and services to NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
- Act as a central point of contact to advise on procurement activities within the board.
- Ensure orders comply with relevant regulations and the Standing Financial Instructions.
- Operate within defined limits and maintain awareness of NHS D&G procurement and finance processes.
- Be organised, adaptable, a team player and a good communicator.
- Understand NHS Dumfries and Galloway procurement and finance processes.
- The role may start as a Trainee Band 3 and progress to Band 4 on achieving a minimum SVQ Level 3 in Procurement or an equivalent qualification.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so pay is not affected.
