Job Description
Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the paediatric audiology team at NHS Lothian's Children's Hearing service.

Responsibilities
  • Support paediatric diagnostic hearing assessments in the ENT clinic and with children over the age of 4 years.
  • Deliver high levels of care via face to face appointments at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and at Lauriston Hospital.
  • Contribute to service improvement and development, including SOP development, patient information audit and quality improvement.
  • Carry out diagnostic testing of children aged 0-18 years, including ABR, ASSR, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Performance Audiometry, Pure Tone Audiometry, TEAOE testing, Otoscopy and Tympanometry.
  • Fit hearing aids for all ages and participate in the fitting of implantable devices as part of the national microtia service.
  • Support children's hearing improvement through fitting and management of hearing aids.
  • Participate in service improvement duties such as contributions to SOPs, patient information audit and quality improvement.
  • Work Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00, with a full time expectation of 37 hours per week; a 36 hour reduced working week will be introduced by 2026 with no salary impact.
Qualifications
  • Post holder must have a PVG Scheme membership/record; non membership will require Disclosure Scotland application prior to commencing in post.
Working Hours

The service currently runs clinics Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 with the expectation of working 37 hours between these times. There is a NHS Scotland initiative to have a reduced working week of 36 hours by 2026 with no salary impact.
