Job Description
Overview

Therapy Services - RIE

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team which covers 113 beds in the Ortho Unit and a 24 bedded Day Surgery Unit in the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.

Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities. Our exciting AHP strategy aims to cultivate AHP potential in NHS Lothian. More information about our research and capacity building is available on the NHS Lothian site.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver physiotherapy assessments and treatments across the Royal Infirmary site's Orthopaedic wards as part of a large team (band 3 to band 7).
  • Participate in a weekend working rota on a 1:8 frequency.
  • Participate weekly in the Enhanced Recovery extended hours service and Day Surgery Service until 6pm.
  • Collaborate with the orthopaedic team to prioritise care and discharge planning for a wide range of presentations.
  • Demonstrate clear communication and strong organisational skills; provide supervision, mentorship and appraisal for staff and students as required.
  • Gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 6 physiotherapist through a varied caseload including trauma and elective Orthopaedics.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Evidence of clinical experience in a wide variety of core Band 5 rotations.
  • Particular interest in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with experience in trauma and elective Orthopaedics.
  • Ability to prioritise and discharge plan for a wide range of presentations.
  • Clear communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills.
  • Experience of supervision, mentorship, and appraisal of other staff members and students.
