Job Description
Job Summary

Prison Officer - HMP Styal, Styal Rd, Wilmslow (SK9 4HR). The role is part of the Women's Prison service and involves a range of daily responsibilities within the prison environment.

Salary & Hours

• 37 hours per week: £33,746 a year
• 39 hours per week: £35,875 a year (includes 20% unsocial pay)
• 41 hours per week: £38,003 a year

Requirements
  • Minimum age 18 years at commencement of employment
  • Meet Civil Service nationality requirements
  • Pass a medical and fitness assessment, including eyesight and hearing standards
  • Tattoos may be permitted provided they are not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons.
  • Must hold a suitable right to work in the UK (Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available, subject to eligibility and UK Immigration Rules)
Responsibilities
  • Communicate and influence all staff and inmates effectively.
  • Manage the provision of a quality service within the prison.
  • Make effective decisions and exercise sound judgement.
  • Provide care and support to prisoners in line with policy.
Recruitment Process

Applicants will undergo a staged assessment process: an online numerical and judgement test (Stage 1), a values based assessment (Stage 2), an online assessment centre (OAC), written responses to behavioural questions, and a medical and fitness test including eyesight, hearing and health screening. Successful candidates will be offered a role and invited to complete training.
