2026 Trade Apprenticeship - Steel Fixer (Great Grid Upgrade)

Steel Fixers play a crucial role in the construction of safe and durable concrete structures. In this role, you will assemble and install the steel reinforcement that strengthens concrete elements such as columns, beams, walls and floors.

As a Steel Fixer Apprentice, you'll learn how to install the steel reinforcement that strengthens concrete structures such as columns, walls, slabs and pile caps.

• Work safely at all times, following health and safety regulations and using the correct PPE
• Prepare and maintain safe working areas, protecting others around you
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Measure, cut and bend reinforcing steel
• Install and securely tie reinforcement bars and mesh
• Produce and fit supports such as chairs and spacer bars
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly
• Work at height using appropriate access and fall protection equipment
• Carry out quality checks once work is complete

You'll also develop strong teamwork and communication skills, follow environmental and sustainability practices, and contribute positively to an inclusive and respectful workplace.

This is a hands on role where you'll build practical skills, gain industry recognised qualifications and work as part of a supportive site team.
