If so, read on to see what Thales has on offer.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands on experience.

What you'll do at work

The role will develop your engineering skills to become a confident, positive and flexible acoustics hardware engineer with well honed technical knowledge gained from both academic commitments and on the job training. You will be part of a team that supports systems and equipment solutions that are currently in service with our customer. This will provide many opportunities to experience the various aspects of hardware engineering, such as research and design work, interaction with Thales industry teams, test and possibly site and platform visits for surveys or trials. There will also be opportunities to experience other parts of the business to further expand your knowledge on how each sector operates together to deliver high quality products on tight deadlines.

As an Acoustic Engineering Apprentice you will develop the key skills and experience in the following:

  • Modelling acoustics effects on sensors and their performance under differing conditions
  • Production of digital and physical models
  • Specifying requirements and designing solutions
  • Undertaking in water and in air testing
  • Working with specialist teams (e.g. materials) to understand impacts on acoustic solutions
