1:1 Teaching Assistant Rugby

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with complex needs in a specialist behavioural school in Rugby. This full-time role will start in September 2026 and is likely to run for the the entire academic year.

The school supports pupils aged 11 to 19 who present with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), ADHD, ASD, and other associated learning and behavioural challenges. The team works together to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where every young person has the opportunity to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the student's individual education, behaviour, and care plan.
• Use positive behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques, and clear routines to help the student manage their emotions and behaviour.
• Support with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
• Monitor progress, record observations, and share feedback with the wider team.

Pre-requisites:

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience in an educational or care setting.
• Experience working 1:1 with children or young people with complex needs and/or behavioural challenges.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure.
• Two professional references from an educational or care background.
