1:1 Support Teaching Assistant - Preschool (Long-Term Opportunity)

  • Location: Wyre area
  • Start Date: Immediate or September start available
  • Hours: Initially approx. 6 hours per week (Mondays & Wednesdays - flexible), increasing to approx. 15 hours per week (12:15pm - 3:15pm)
  • Duration: Long-term (minimum 1 year)
  • Salary: CompetitiveTA2

A Wyre Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant to work with a preschool child who has additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young child's development within a supportive school environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs.
  • Support communication and engagement through appropriate strategies.
  • Assist with physical and personal care requirements if needed.
  • Help the child access learning and participate in preschool activities.
  • Work closely with the school team to implement support plans.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA2 level or equivalent), Nursery practitioner, or Care/support worker with relevant experience is preferred.
  • Patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
